The birth of Anima
“Mama Bali always knows what you need”— turns out, it was each other.
Have you ever met someone and instantly felt like you’ve known them for lifetimes? Where opening up feels completely natural, free from judgment, and without that lingering feeling of having said too much? That’s exactly how it was for us—two old souls reconnecting. While we could spend hours theorizing why these rare connections happen, we know one thing for sure: the right people are here to make the journey lighter and a lot more fun.
Whether you’ve already found that special connection with a friend, partner, or sister—or you’re yet to find it—this is the heart of our retreats. We believe everyone should get to experience such a bond so we dedicated ourselves to creating a space where you can find your own.
Our intentions for Anima
“While the themes of our retreats may vary from time to time, our intentions for each retreat do not. ”
We are social
Each of our retreats is designed to encourage connecting with the other guests. We offer plenty of group activities but also enough time to recharge, reflect or you know…nap. Come solo or with a friend and by the end of it, you might find that soul connection with another or with yourself.
Wellness every day
We want you to feel good every day. Each of our retreats has daily wellness practices, such as yoga, meditation, breathwork or journaling. We also offer healthy and delicious meals and the occasional cheeky glass of wine.
Make it fun
We get it, life can get very serious but during your week with us, life is anything but. In our retreats, you never have to worry about choosing, planning, paying or taking yourself too seriously. We offer a range of activities designed to spark that creative fire and remind you how fun life can be.
“If this resonates with you, we look forward to welcoming you at Anima.”
What does “Anima” mean?
Our idea to name our retreats “Anima” comes from the concept of “Anima Mundi” (Latin for "the Soul of the World"), an ancient philosophical concept that views the entire natural world as a single, interconnected, and living soul. It suggests that all living beings, ecosystems, and natural forces are bound together by a shared, animating spiritual essence—just as an individual body is animated by its own soul.
In the noise of modern life, it’s easy to feel separate—from nature, from our community, and from ourselves. We view the earth as a stage we walk across, rather than a living ecosystem we are part of. Our retreats are curated to dissolve this separatedness and help you find that connection with others, local culture and most importantly, with yourself.
